Mari Aqubardia was born in 1991 in Gagra, Abkhazia. Currently she works and lives in Tbilisi. She graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (B.A. and M.A. degree). She has participated in different exhibitions, festivals and projects in Georgia and abroad. In 2014 she lived and worked on artists-in-residence program in Art-Villa Garikula.


Mari Aqubardia works in different mediums. Her inspiration is based on her personal observations and feelings. Mari often works on existential, critical and social themes such as tradition and cultural stagnation in society.


Artist has participated in different international exhibitions. In 2016 her artwork “Personal Structures” was exhibited in Venice together with other international artists Jeff Koons, Alberto Giacometti, Yoko Onno, Hermann Nitsch, etc. Artworks of Mari Akubardia are stored in different collections in Georgia and abroad.
