Irakli Gabashvili was born in 1937 in Tbilisi, Georgia. During 1956-1962 he was studying ceramics at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. In 1966-1968 he continued postgraduate studies at the Moscow Institute of Technical Esthetic. He was the main designer of the scientific-research Institute of Technical Esthetic in Georgia. From 1971 he was a member of the Artists Union of Georgia. From 1971-197 he was a head of Solan.


He was the director of scientific-research and experimental laboratory of folk crafts and souvenirs.

Irakli Gabashvili created Borjomi mineral water spring bouvette and also designed resthouse and sanatorium “Phiruzi”. Last days of his life he was mostly created graphic artworks. The most important series of Gabashvili are “Old Tbilisi”, “Zodiac Signs”, “Nude”, “Cats”. He participated in different exhibition in Moscow, Sankt-Peterburg, Kiev, Vilnius and etc.

Irakli Gabashvili memorial exhibition was opened at Georgian National Gallery , organized by the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and Artists Union.


The artworks of Irakli Gabashvili are stored in different private collections world-wide (In Russia, Armenia, U.S.A, France, Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Turkey and etc. )
